Talking-Thread was started by Ravina Deora in 2019, out of a belief that embroidery deserved better than a factory line. What began as a handful of monogrammed hoops made for friends grew into a small studio of artisans who still hand-sketch every motif before a single stitch is made.
The name comes from an old idea in the family: that a name stitched into cloth stays long after the moment it was given for. A hoop for a nursery. A handkerchief for a wedding. A cushion that outlives the sofa it sits on.

Our studio works with a close circle of embroidery artisans across Mumbai, several of whom have stitched with Talking-Thread since its first year. Skills are passed hand to hand, not written in a manual — the same way they always have been.
We keep batches small on purpose. It's the only way to hold the line on quality as the studio grows.
How a piece is made.
Sketch
Every motif starts as a pencil drawing, refined until the proportions feel right on cloth.
Thread Selection
We hand-match silk and cotton floss from our 48-colour library to your chosen palette.
Hand Stitching
An artisan works the design over 6–18 hours, entirely by hand, no machine assist.
Finishing
Pieces are pressed, quality-checked, and wrapped in hand-folded tissue for shipping.
